The U.S. carbon steel sheet market represents quiet during Christmas and New Year holiday. However, the price will boost for the first quarter of 2014 with deduction of discount by most steel mills. So far, the ex-word price of hot rolled coil and cold rolled coil from Midwest are around US$670~US$680/short ton and US$780~US$790/short ton respectively.
Steel mills indicate the purchasing is getting hectic after deducting discounts because buyers believe the prices would keep surging after holiday in U.S. local market.
